Genesis & Exodus Survey. Session 1

This opening class reads Genesis 1 and introduces the Genesis and Exodus survey as a “highlight reel.” It compares Genesis’s creation account with ancient Near Eastern stories, then briefly surveys Christian views on creation. The main emphasis is that Jesus reframes how Christians read the Old Testament: the speaker reads Luke 24 and connects Genesis and Exodus with New Testament passages about Christ’s role in creation and redemption. The class closes by framing Genesis 1 around God creating people as image-bearers and forming a family, rather than answering modern scientific questions.
